First Time User Registration for Interlibrary Loan
The Kresge Library provides Interlibrary Loan service to current employees, faculty, staff, and students of The Scripps Research Institute, Scripps Florida, Scripps Clinic, and Green Hospital.
In addition, document delivery service is available to staff who are not located at the Torrey Pines campus.
Article requests are usually received in three to five working days. Books not owned by UCSD take longer to arrive (via U.S. Mail).
If you need an item by a particular date, please contact a library staff member to make sure that
we can meet your deadline. RUSH service may be available for a fee. You may wish to read the
ILLiad FAQ for additional information about ILLiad interlibrary loan service.
To request an item through Interlibrary Loan, you must first register with the Library's ILLiad system. Benefits of registration include:
Personal information only has to be entered once.
Having your e-mail and inter-office mail addresses on file with ILLiad enables us to notify you promptly and deliver materials accurately.
Specifying an ILLiad Username and Password of your choosing allows secure access to information about your requests. You will also be able to review the list of items you have requested through ILLiad in the past.
Choose anything you like, such as your name, initials, or a memorable code, from 3 to 20 alphanumeric characters.
Choose anything you like. Follow good security practice and choose a password that is different from those you use to access other systems.
ILLiad will encrypt your password, so it will remain secure. Only you will know your password.
If you forget
Please do not register with ILLiad more than once. If you have forgotten your ILLiad password, please use the
Password Reset feature to reset it.
If you have forgotten your ILLiad username, please call the Kresge Library at (858) 784-8705 or email email@example.com for assistance.
It is your responsibility as a user of the the ILLiad service to return all physical items (books, cds, etc.) to the Kresge Library. If loaned items are not returned, you are responsible for the cost to replace the item and any additional processing charges the lending library imposes on us. If we are unsuccessful in obtaining the item and/or the replacements costs from you, your ILLiad access will be blocked, and your supervisor informed.
Un-returned and missing materials jeopardize the Library's relationships with our lending partners and result in fines and suspension of our lending privileges, so please return your items in good condition and on time. Thank you.
Important Copyright Information
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the
photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses,
a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
TSRI's Kresge Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
